Take it apart, understand it, rebuild it better.
I got my first computer when I was ten and started programming at fourteen. Even before that, I liked taking things apart to understand how they worked.
I sold technology before I built it. Then I wrote software, administered systems, worked on architecture and led a team.
Today I focus on backend and distributed systems. I like problems that cross several systems: the ones where understanding what happened means following a message, request or log through different parts of the architecture.
Over time, the way I look at technology has grown beyond code. It now includes people, communities, the environment and the consequences of our choices.
How I work
I still do much the same thing I did as a child: take things apart, understand them and try to rebuild them better. To me, curiosity is a technical skill.
